When ADAPT protesters took over the office of Republican presidential nominee, Senator John McCain, on April 29, a deaf ADAPT activist was taken to the ground by police when she didn’t respond to police instructions. Disaboom has a video of the event of its Web site.
Discussion of the incident tries to clarify if the deaf activist is a victim of excessive force by police.
The ADAPT protesters wanted a meeting with McCain to ask for his support for the Community Choice Act, legislation designed to expand Medicaid coverage to more disabled people who want to live in their own homes instead of nursing homes.
