Radio show highlights toys for kids with disabilities

"The Signal," a radio show on WYPR, the public radio station in Baltimore, had a story on toys for kids this holiday season Dec. 5 and included a discussion of toys for children with disabilities: "Signal contributor Mary Rose Madden scouts through a local toy store with a team of ‘experts,’ young and old, looking for toys and games that’ll be as fun as they are educational for kids of diverse ages and needs."

It's wonderful to hear the annual story about holiday toys be inclusive. Kudos to Mary Rose Madden for the great story.

You can listen to the story here.

And I have no knowledge of this company, Independent Living Technologies, but it says it has specific toys for children with disabilities. Its bowling game is pictured above. About the game, it says: "Students practice counting and number identification skills while engaging in friendly competition with the Fun Gripper™ Bowling set by Saturnian. The unique texture of the Fun Gripper bowling ball and six numbered bowling pins make it easy for students with limited fine motor skills to fully participate in the wide range of bowling activities provided."
Also, here's a list of Web sites for companies that sell adaptive toys.
