Senior citizens kicked out of closing Las Vegas assisted living facility

From KTNV-TV:

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Several dozen residents at Concorde Senior Living have been given 30 days notice to move out.

"They said Merry Christmas. Pack your bags and get the hell out," says Barry Gore, who is confined to a wheelchair and says he can't afford to hire people to move him.

"They knew about this since October and they gave us 30 days notice," says Gore. "Now that's a crock."

The notice to vacate comes after Concorde's owner, ALDCO Investments, was unable to refinance their loan, becoming another victim of the economy.

"We're all facing disadvantaged situations but the thing is you give people a legitimate amount of time to relocate themselves," says Mrs. Drew Berman, who has been searching for a new home for her mother in law.

"There was just no thought, no consideration. Nothing," says Berman.

For it's part, Concorde Senior Living is helping it's residents find new places to live.

They hope to restructure and eventually reopen.

In the meantime, 33 residents are forced to move out and the staff is already looking for new jobs.
