A discrimination case against Hibbing Taconite Co. will be allowed to proceed as the result of a U.S. District Court decision issued June 1.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has charged that the company discriminated against James Edstrom, a former LTV Steel worker who is deaf, when it denied him employment at its mine.
HibTac had sought to have the case dismissed, but Judge Richard Kyle denied its request. The case is set for trial in Duluth on July 26.
