Playground for autistic children opens in California

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. -- The first playground designed specifically for children with autism spectrum disorders, is officially open in the San Fernando Valley.

The new Boundless Playground (pictured) is located at The Help Group's new state-of-the-art autism center in Sherman Oaks.

The Help Group is a non-profit organization that offers programs to more than 1,300 pre-kindergarten to high school students with special needs, including autism.

The playground has many different types of structures that provide opportunities for interactive learning and developmental experiences.

There are also several features to help promote sensory exploration such as a sand and water table, music and percussive stations and a multicolored, rubberized ground covering.

The playground was donated by Hasbro Studios.
