Wheelchair user rescued from fall onto NYC subway track by riders, MTA employee

From NY1:

A man was rescued Dec. 10 after he lost control of his motorized wheelchair and fell onto subway tracks.

Jerome Billings, 60, fell off the platform at the 125th Street stop on the 4-5-6 lines around 4 p.m. yesterday.

MTA employee Carlos Betancourt and three subway riders jumped onto the tracks to help Billings back up.

"I ran, jumped into the rope bed, kept on running. I fell, got up, kept on running," said Betancourt. "Between us four... we helped him onto the platform and got the motorized wheelchair and hoisted that back up."

Billings was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries.
