"Gimp" performance in Chicago May 15
Lisa Bufano who inspired Heidi Lasky's development
of "Gimp."
Victory Gardens Theater's Crip Slam will host the Heidi Latsky Dance company's performance of "GIMP" May 15.
"GIMP" interconnects dance from both disabled and able-bodied dancers. Heidi Latsky Dance says, "The work confronts the audience with their own preconceptions about dance, performing, and body image and embraces this process while ultimately transcending it towards an appreciation of the artistry, individuality, and beauty of those performing."
According to Victory Gardens, the performance includes "a roster of performers who embody unique physical virtuosity. Outstanding technique, raw beauty and the physical poetry of risk-taking propel the artists and the audience into the collective unknown."
You can see an excerpt of "Gimp" on YouTube, and you can hear WBUR, Boston's NPR station, profile of Lisa Bufano here.
