12-year-old readies for his turn at Paralympics, in 2012
The local newspaper in Norfolk, UK, profiled 12-year-old wheelchair racer Will Smith, who is winning numerous competitions around Great Britain and is readying for his time to qualify for the 2012 Paralympics.
It reports: "Will, who lives in Westfield, near Dereham, is no ordinary athlete. He was born with spina bifida and for the past few years has been taking the disabled sports world by storm with a string of gold, silver and bronze medals to his name for eastern region and national athletic championships. Today he is heading back to Blackpool for the nationals to try and clinch gold in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m and edge a bit closer to a place in the British team at the Paralympics in four years' time."
