Luke Zimmerman featured in "The Secret Life of the American Teenager"
Back in April, the Los Angeles Times had a story about the growing visibility of actors with Down syndrome and mentioned that Luke Zimmerman, 29, would be in a new show on ABC Family. The show, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," began July 1 with Zimmerman as the brother to the main character, a teenager who gets pregnant.
The show, which stars former teen star Molly Ringwald as the Mom, has garnered pretty poor
reviews, with the LA Times saying: "It feels thin, mechanical and confused." But even if it is cancelled, it's a great resume-builder for Zimmerman and I hope to see him more on TV in the future.
In another disability connection, Molly Ringwald is the daughter of a renowned jazz musician, Bob Ringwald, who happens to be blind. She apparently became a voracious reader as a child because she and her siblings enjoyed reading to their father.
