Claire Luckham’s play The Choice depicts her conflicted relationship with her brother David, who has Down’s Syndrome. In Fair Play, filmmaker David Herman follows the process of a theatre troupe (with many members coping with Down’s Syndrome and other handicaps) as they mount a production of this compelling play. Fair Play examines the parallels between Luckham’s bond with her brother and the dynamics of the theatre company’s actors, capturing the humanity of its subjects with honesty and without crass sentimentality.
The 2008 film from the UK is 52 minutes long.
