VSA arts is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2009 Playwright Discovery Award, For the Love of Goldfish, by Ali Pavuk (pictured) of Waretown, New Jersey. In For the Love of Goldfish, co-workers Julia and Evan attempt to hide their romantic feelings for each other, along with their respective disabilities. Reminiscent of The Office, this hilarious comedy is about love, self-esteem, and the importance of being honest.
Ali Pavuk will be a junior at Ocean County Vocational Technical School Performing Arts Academy this fall, where she studies acting. Ali also loves to write poetry, songs, and short stories. For the Love of Goldfish is the sixteen-year-old’s first play.
VSA arts will present For the Love of Goldfish at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to this event are free with reservations.
