UMCP Women's Studies presents "Window Shopping with Helen Keller: Disability, Gender, and Modern Visual Culture" by Prof. David Serlin, Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at 2101 Woods Hall, Conference Room, at the University of Maryland-College Park.
Professor Serlin is an associate professor in the Department of Communication at University of California, San Diego. In his talk, Serlin will discuss iconography of disability and the relationship among visual culture, disability, gender and representation using a photograph of Helen Keller window shopping in the 1930s.
