SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 36-year-old woman was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for letting her 12-year-old daughter waste away and die from malnutrition and neglect.
A Sacramento Superior Court judge sentenced Brandy Foreman on Jan. 22. She had pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Daelynn, who suffered from cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder.
The girl's 23.5-pound body was found in their Orangevale duplex in July 2006. She was covered in bedsores that showed her bones.
Foreman's attorney said she was a good mom until she and her boyfriend started smoking about crank every day.
An investigation later found that county officials were warned seven times in four years that Daelynn was being neglected.
