Disability Power & Pride and its lead Sponsor, AT&T, will host a Gala Celebration on July 26, 2010 in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signing! It will be another "Night to Remember”!
Enactment of the ADA was a crowning achievement for our community – not only for the way it changed the law but also for the way in which it brought us together. We have come a long way since that declaration on July 26, 1990. From Justin Dart and George Bush to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, we have mobilized and fought for disability policy reform. We came together then, and we will come together now to celebrate our diversity and to show our Power & Pride!
Disability Power & Pride is dedicated to mobilizing all Americans with disabilities, and our families, friends and allies, to speak with one powerful voice. We want to change public perceptions of disability by elevating leadership, encouraging dialogue, and empowering individuals to become active citizens.
Our 2009 Inaugural Ball was a smashing success because so many of you attended. Please come again for good food and dancing. Come for the good cheer and company. Come to make a statement about our community. Most important, come and help us have a ball once again!
Sincerely,
Becky Ogle, Gala Chair, Director of Identity & Events
Tony Coelho, Chair
Jonathan Young, Vice Chair
Sue Swenson, Secretary, Director of Public Affairs & Communications
Thomas Panek, Treasurer, Director of Finance & Development
Sandy Finucane, Director of Federal Appointments & Employment
Susan Mazrui, At-Large Executive Committee Member
