PARK FOREST, Ill. -- An Illinois couple has been jailed after the eight-year-old girl they took care of was allegedly found chained to a bed and lying in waste.
Prosecutors say Renee Dennis and Paul Coleman allegedly tied the unidentified girl with cerebral palsy to the bed with a metal chain and a nylon harness at their home in Park Forest.
Prosecutors also say Dennis admitted to chaining the victim, who is her niece, to the bed so she could "run errands." The girl and her six-year-old cousin have been turned over to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Coleman and Dennis are charged with endangerment and criminal neglect.
Coleman has also been charged for failing to register as a sex offender.
