Children in the Siberian city of Irkutsk will undergo additional vaccination for poliomyelitis after a nine-month baby girl was diagnosed with polio.
Two polio cases, the first in five decades, have been confirmed in Russia lately – one in Irkutsk and the other in Moscow.
Both patients are baby girls who were brought from Tajikistan where some 240 children contracted poliomyelitis in April and at least 13 of them have died.
