In July, the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (IOCF) will convene its annual conference in our nation’s capital and OC87 will be screened there July 15.
As a part of its first-ever OCD Film Festival, the conference will screen OC87, followed by a panel/audience discussion. The panel consists of Bud and several mental health professionals who have helped him: Jon Grayson, PhD (who is in the film), Cathy Grayson, MA (Bud’s Asperger’s consultant), and Harold Kirby, LCSW, BCD (Bud’s OCD therapist).
Soon after the filming of OC87 began, IOCF emerged as a terrific ally – we attended their 2008 conference and showed some clips to a focus group that included folks with OCD (including newscaster Jeff Bell, an OCD spokesperson who is in the film), family members, and therapists. We learned a lot from their feedback, so it feels great to ‘give back’ to the IOCF community in sharing OC87 as a completed work.
Because this screening is a conference event, those attending the OC87 screening must register for the conference (the other events occur July 16–18). In addition to the conference, IOCF provides a host of OCD-related educational, support, training, and research support initiatives. To learn more visit www.ocfoundation.org
