WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The founder of an Indiana company that makes devices to help blind and low-vision students learn science and math is heading to the White House to show off some of those products.
Purdue University graduate Cary Supalo (pictured) is both founder and president of Independence Science LLC, which is based at the Purdue Research Park.
He plans to meet Sep. 27 with President Barack Obama's special assistant on disability policy to demonstrate devices such as the Talking LabQuest. That device uses text-to-speech software to turn scientific data into spoken data for blind and low-vision students.
Supalo is himself blind and hopes the White House meeting can help get technologies into schools that help blind or low-vision students learn.
