PARK RIDGE, Ill. — A center for adults with Down syndrome in Park Ridge has received $1.3 million to expand. The facility provides services to approximately 4,500 patients each year.
Gov. Pat Quinn announced the capital funding Oct. 30 to enlarge the Adult Down Syndrome Center at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
The funding will help the center increase the number of exam rooms from four to seven. It will also add a community room, which will be used for education, support group meetings and other services for patients and families.
The project is set to begin in the spring of 2011 and will be completed later that year. The project must go through the local zoning approval process and be reviewed by the city of Park Ridge before building can begin.
