Companies with more than 50 employees are required by law to employ at least 2 per cent who are disabled. There are 753 companies with more than 50 employees in the Alicante Province, but only 33 per cent of those companies employ at least one disabled person, according to the national association for the disabled.
Alicante Provincial Government, in collaboration with the association, has created an information and sensitization campaign for businesses about employment and disability.
The aim is to motivate and provide incentives to employ disabled people.
This in turn will enrich the quality of these people, and their families, lives.
“We hope that with this campaign, companies will understand the importance of employing disabled people and offer work to these people,” said Social Welfare Councillor Luisa Pastor.
