BURLINGTON, Vt. — Federal prosecutors in Vermont say two shopping centers have resolved complaints alleging they violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by not providing adequate parking and other services.
Morrisville Shopping Plaza, in Morrisville, and Grand Union shopping plaza, in Johnson, were the subject of complaints they didn't provide adequate parking for the disabled.
In the Morrisville case, the plaza was accused of having inadequate access areas for disabled patrons, lack of van-accessible parking spaces, inappropriate siting of spaces, inappropriate siting of shopping cart corrals and inaccessible parking spaces. Its owner, Murphy Realty Co., agreed to fix the problems.
Grand Union was alleged to lack van-accessible parking, signage for parking spaces and inadequate access areas for disabled patrons. U.S. Attorney Tristram Coffin says owner Pomerleau Real Estate agreed to remedy the problems.
