The in-home caretaker of a 13-year-old who suffers from severe cerebral palsy was recorded by a surveillance camera physically abusing the child, police say.
Akemi Johnson, 56, of Chicago, faces a felony charge of abusing a disabled person.
Prosecutors said Johnson slapped the girl, pulled her hair and slammed her head against her wheelchair.
The activity was recorded by hidden video cameras the girl's guardian planted throughout their Archer Heights neighborhood home, prosecutors said.
Johnson is currently being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
