Scott MacIntyre competes on "American Idol's" Hollywood show tonight

VSA Arts reports that visually impaired singer Scott MacIntyre, who is one of VSA arts 2008 International Young Soloists Awardees, is going to Hollywood to compete on American Idol tonight.

Scott MacIntyre is a member of the MacIntyre Family Singers, with brother, Todd, 19, and sister, Katelyn, 16 (all three are pictured). According to VSA Arts, individually and as a group, they have garnered musical and academic awards from Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada), Royal College of Music (U.K.), Universität Mozarteum (Austria), Boston University, Tanglewood Institute, Arizona State University, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, USA Today, National Association of Teachers of Singing, and many others. Scott and Todd are both summa-cum-laude Arizona State University graduates. Katelyn is a high school junior. Both Scott and Katelyn were born with congenital blindness.

Scott received his golden ticket to proceed to Hollywood Jan. 13. The judges seemed impressed with him and didn't have much reaction to his blindness, only to the fact that he graduated from college at 19.
