India's banks to prominently display procedures so people with disabilities know how to open accounts

From TradingMarkets.com:

MUMBAI, India -- The Reserve Bank of India Sept. 3 asked banks to prominently display procedures for opening of accounts for persons with multiple disabilities and mental retardation.

Citing a High Court of Delhi directive, the RBI said all banks should ensure that their branches display in a conspicuous place essential details about the facilities under the enactment (Mental Disabilities Act).

The court also directed that the parties can approach the Local Level Committees for the purposes of issuance of the certificate and that the certificate issued under the Mental Disabilities Act is acceptable, RBI said in a notification.

"Banks are advised to strictly comply with the above orders of the Court," it said.
