What’s better than a movie called Knights of Badassdom? A movie called Knights of Badassdom starring Peter Dinklage, of course. According to Bloody Disgusting, Dinklage (pictured) is in talks to star in the awesomely named horror movie. Check out the full synopsis:
"A huge group of dedicated, costumed LARP-ers (Live Action Role Players), dressed like knights, elves & various characters, give up their cell phones and take to the woods for the Central New Jersey Knights of Badassdom Adventure Society, where they are set to re-enact a dungeons and dragons scenario right out of the mythical Middle Ages. After being dumped by his sexy girlfriend Beth, Joe reluctantly decides to join Eric and his Larping friends in the woods rather than stay behind and feel sorry for his newly single status. There he meets hot, ass-kicking, intimidating huntress LARPer Gwen, and finds himself a surreal adventure wilder than he ever imagined when a make-believe wizard casts an all-too-real spell from an ancient book he bought on EBay, releasing an actual demon with a taste for human blood -- and souls -- that starts systematically decimating the players in this suddenly deadly 'game.' Will our guys become the heroes they have been pretending to be before time runs out?"
Gotta love it! Ever since Role Models it's been clear that a LARP movie was overdue. Besides, it's great to see Dinklage step out of the secondary character shadow and into the limelight. You probably know Dinklage best from his memorable performance as the not-so-friendly Miles Finch in Elf or maybe as Trumpkin from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, but now it’s time to get to know him as a leading man. Of course, there’s still no confirmation on what role Dinklage would play, but when Bloody Disgusting describes his situation as “in talks to star,” I’d assume that’ means he’s negotiating for the role of Joe.
Regardless of whether or not all goes to plan for Dinklage, writers Matt Wall and Kevin Dreyfuss have created quite the concept for Joe Lynch to bring to life. LARP is a rather fresh topic and the horror spin makes the film even more intriguing.
