Houston police release more information about murder of woman with CP in her home

HOUSTON - We're learning more about the death of an elderly handicapped woman who was murdered in her northeast Houston home.

Police say 60-year-old Debra Boudreaux was born with cerebral palsy and relied heavily on the kindness of strangers to help her get from her scooter to her bed.

She would regularly ask strangers to come in her home and help her.

Boudreaux’s caretaker was going to assist the woman with her medical needs on Sept. 15. Upon entering the apartment, she found the victim dead on her bed.

Detectives say it appeared she was strangled at her home on Burress and Fulton Wednesday.

An autopsy will determine her exact cause of death.

Officers say whoever killed her took their time going through her belongings.

"The possibility certainly exists that the suspects, after they first came and killed the victim, returned at a later date and removed other items," C.P. Abbey said at an HPD press conference.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone with information that could lead to the identification and/or arrest of a suspect involved in the case.
