University of Georgia receives $1.2 million federal grant to develop autism app

From The AP:

ATHENS, GA -- The University of Georgia has received a $1.2 million federal grant to develop an app for mobile devices to help autistic and developmentally delayed people complete routine daily tasks.

UGA researcher Kevin Ayres said the program, called iSkills, will be like "a video cookbook for everyday tasks."

The ultimate goal is to help users have more independence. It will include areas such as employment, leisure safety, community involvement and community navigation.

The grant is from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences.
