KUWAIT CITY -- The Palestine Charitable Committee at International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) enabled 35 disabled Palestinians perform Hajj this year, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Chairman of the committee Sheikh Nadir Al-Nouri said they targeted people who were injured during the Al-Fourqan conflict in 2008 and the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000 in Gaza Strip.
The committee gave 35 such people a chance to perform Hajj and each person was allowed to take six companions along to take care, he said, adding the committee spent $97,000 on the project.
He mentioned that more than 80 percent Palestinian families are living below the poverty line and that unemployment has exceeded 45 percent.
