The San Jose Mercury News recently reprinted a LA Times interview with comedic actress Teri Garr (Oscar-nominated for "Tootsie") in which she discusses her multiple sclerosis, a 2006 brain aneurysm and two new indie movies she is in this summer, "Expired" and "Kabluey."
This quote seems to say that Garr now identifies as a person with a disability, and she plays a wheelchair user in "Expired."
"When you hear the word 'disabled,' people immediately think about people who can't walk or talk or do everything that people take for granted," Garr said in a recent interview. "Now, I take nothing for granted. But I find the real disability is people who can't find joy in life and are bitter.
