Disabled Vietnam vet and anti-war protester Ron Kovic, whose life story was the basis for the film "Born on the Fourth of July," led the first protest at the Democratic Convention August 24, according to the NY Times. About 1,000 people made their voices heard about issues such as the Iraq war and big oil. Many of the protesters are actually supporters of nominee Barak Obama but said they wanted Democrats to know that they need to address these concerns.
