The application deadline is March 20, 2009. The Costa Rica program gives participants the opportunity to:
- Live with a host family
- Learn Spanish through immersion
- Learn about disability rights and leadership
Generous scholarships are available and applications available online at http://www.miusa.org/exchange/costarica09/costrica2009. MIUSA says first-time travelers with disabilities who are between 18-24 years old, from cultural minority and low-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply. ASL staff interpreters and materials in alternative formats will be provided. Funding for personal assistants may also be available.

The 2009 US/Costa Rica: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Disability Rights Leadership Exchange Program is funded by the New York Community Trust DeWitt Wallace/Youth Travel Enrichment Fund and administered by Mobility International USA to provide an educational travel opportunity to youth with disabilities from diverse communities.
