AXIS Dance Company was nominated for three awards, and won two: Rodney Bell and Sonsheree Giles received an award for Ensemble Performance of Alex Ketley's "To Color Me Different" and Joe Goode received an award for Choreography for "the beauty that was mine, through the middle, without stopping."
You can watch both performances on YouTube here: “To Color Me Different" and "the beauty that was mine, through the middle, without stopping...".
The Isadora Duncan Dance Awards seek to honor local dance artists and promote their visibility, primarily by acknowledging outstanding achievements within a twelve-month period of performances, running September 1 through August 31. The "Izzies" awards, created in 1984, are designed to celebrate the unique richness, diversity and excellence of Bay Area dance.
The 2007/2008 season was AXIS Dance Company's 20th anniversary season.
