A nurse resource to promote sexual health in young people with learning disabilities has been launched in England.
The pack, developed by NHS Leeds Children's Learning Disability Nursing Team, won a Nursing Times Innovation award in 2006.
It has now received funding from the Department of Health so that ten copies are being sent to every Healthy Schools Programme co-ordinator across England.
Covering issues such as body changes, consent, personal hygiene and sexual relations, the pack is aimed at any professional group working with children, aged nine to 18, with a learning disability to help them offer appropriate sex and relationships education.
The pack was launched nationally last month at the Puberty and Sexuality for Children with a Learning Disability conference in Leeds.
