LAHORE, Pakistan -- As many as 1.447 million children up to five years of age will be administered polio drops during a three-day campaign.
Chief Minister’s Task Force on Health Chairman Dr Asad Ashraf inaugurated the second round of a special anti-polio campaign in the city at Government Model Town Hospital on Sept. 5. The campaign, commencing on September 7, would conclude on September 9. Almost 2,478 mobile teams of the Health Department would vaccinate 14,47,000 children up to 5 years of age against polio. Ashraf said polio vaccination mobile teams would also distribute leaflets detailing preventive measures against dengue fever.
Health Department Director General (DG) Dr Muhammad Aslam said the mobile teams would vaccinate children in a door-to-door campaign, while 237 static teams would administer polio drops to children at 99 transit points in the city. He said Health Department officials and World Health Organisation representatives would visit different localities at random to monitor the mobile teams.
