BUDAPEST, Hungary -- - Hungary's Parliament on Nov. 9 unanimously adopted a bill seeking to recognise sign language as an "independent and natural" language.
The bill was drafted to offer the hearing-impaired the opportunity to use sign language in official communication, the state secretary at the Social and Labour Ministry said earlier.
The new law grants deaf people the right to use an interpreter in public administration or in legal situations.
