Jakarta program to provide amputees from traffic accidents with artificial legs

From The Jakarata Post:

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Jakarta Police's traffic division, cooperated with Kick Andy Foundation and Media Group, will provide 1,000 artificial legs for those who have lost their legs in a traffic accident.

"An amputee can submit a request to get free artificial legs by attaching an official statement from the head of a community unit *RW* and community group *RT* that they were poor," Sr. Comr. Condro Kirono said Nov. 7 after signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the program.

To manage the program, Condro said the police had also cooperated with UKI hospital, Fatmawati hospital, Koja hospital, Sumber Waras hospital and Cempaka Putih Islamic hospital.

Data from City Police shows that between 90 and 110 people have died in Greater Jakarta area every month in traffic accidents.
