VSA hosts 26th Annual Playwright Discovery Evening Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 at Kennedy Center

From The Kennedy Center:

This year's VSA Playwright Discovery Evening promises to be doubly entertaining since it will feature not one, but two productions.

"The Marionette Effect" is an original, award-winning, one-act play by 17-year-old playwright Laura Hogikyan (pictured) of Superior Township, Michigan, that tells the story of a teenager who is unable to play the piano the way she used to after having a stroke.

"Jack From Above" is a one-man show performed by Tony Award–winning director Jack Hofsiss (The Elephant Man, 1979) that chronicles his experiences after a diving accident in 1985. The play is a tale of life, love, art, the human body, and the human spirit that is both harrowing and hilarious. Jack From Above is written and directed by Ethan Silverman.

Free but tickets required. Tickets are available from VSA. For information, call (202) 628-2800 or e-mail EFKey@vsarts.org with number of tickets requested, the name under which the tickets should be held at the will call table, and any accessibility requests
