NBC's Today Show on March 3 had a story about Porter Ellett, a high school basketball star with one arm, who led his team to the playoffs. Here's a video of the story when it appeared on ABC news.
As I have said before, these types of "overcoming the odds" sports stories will probably never disappear, and the broadcast media especially will always love a story that shows someone easily making a basket with one hand. But interestingly, Porter Ellett says having one arm has zero impact on his basketball abilities. (He's often the top scorer in a game.) So even he might say he shouldn't be the focus of a story about his basketball abilities, because he is just an excellent basketball player like anyone else who makes it to the playoffs.
