"Right to Risk": People with disabilities conquer Grand Canyon

Thanks to New Mobility magazine for letting its readers know about the film "Right to Risk," which is about eight individuals with different disabilities who make a 15-day whitewater rafting journey through the Grand Canyon.

The film is now available on DVD. The filmmakers, John Ryan and Kathleen Jo Ryan, explain their motivation: "Much has been done to remove physical barriers to full participation for individuals with disabilities; however, society’s attitudinal barriers are still well entrenched. In order to help people with disabilities improve their quality of life, we must change perceptions. Showing people with physically disabling conditions ranging from stroke, to spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and progressive disorders like multiple sclerosis, on a whitewater rafting adventure through Grand Canyon has the potential to do just that."
