New report on how people with disabilities are depicted in print media in Bosnia, Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia

The Disability Monitor Initiative for South East Europe announces the publication of Disability in the press: How disability and people with disabilities are depicted in print media in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia in 2006.

In the frame of the Disability Monitor Initiative, this discussion paper attempts to look at major trends in disability reporting in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia in order to facilitate debate between disability advocates and media professionals in finding the best ways to work together to change media coverage on disability shifting from negative portrayals that stigmatize people with disabilities to reporting that normalizes disability issues in a positive way.

The discussion paper is available in English and Serbian and an Albanian version will be available shortly. The report is available for download on the Disability Monitor Initiative web site at: http://www.disabilitymonitor-see.org/, as a Word document or pdf file.
