Angola failed to construct a promised training facility for Paralympics team

From Angencia Angola Press:

LUANDA, Angola - Despite the sports results and the practical implementation of the "Projecto Criança" spreading and development programme, which contributed to the positive year 2009, the activities of the Angolan Paralympics Committee (CPA) were marked by the failure of the construction of a multipurpose training centre due to the lack of a plot.

Speaking to ANGOP to balance the activities of 2009, the president of the institution, Leonel da Rocha Pinto, recognised the holding of every competition on agenda, but regretted the failure to build the infrastructure.

He said the team he leads designed the undertaking in 2005, submitting at the stage the documents to the Provincial Government of Luanda, and up to now it is waiting for an answer, despite the recent contacts with the current managing board of the town council.

Similar to the last season, the issue of infrastructures was also a problem. The CPA is waiting for the granting of the plot by the Luanda government.

Leonel Pinto said there is a Dutch NGO ready to sponsor the construction of the multipurpose centre by about 50 percent, and are only waiting to be informed about whether the documents proving that the plot has been granted by the provincial government.

In terms of plans, the Angolan Paralympics Committee is preparing for the holding, in 2010, of the first national children-juvenile championship in various sports categories, the participation (athletics) in the CPLP Games of Maputo, Mozambique, and in the African Athletics Championship in Morocco.
