Grocery store worker with Down syndrome helps capture thief

From My Fox news in Philadelphia:

A 25-year-old Lower Southampton man is the key to putting a serial robber behind bars.

Patrick Keenan (pictured) remembers the day when he crossed paths with Ronald Fayewicz in the parking lot of the Acme where he works in Feasterville in December 2008.

Fayewicz told Patrick his truck broke down and needed $20. So Keenan pulled out his wallet to help.

"He needed gas money, I asked for the money back. then he reached in my wallet and pulled a 50 out," Keenan said.

Fayewicz got away with the $50 bill that Keenan's grandfather had given him for Christmas.

But Keenan didn't let it stop there.

"Part of me wanted to help him, but the other part of me thought he was trying to con me. So I ran inside told my store manager and called the police"

After Keenan picked a mugshot out of a police lineup, police determined that Fayewicz was the same guy who had been pulling the same scam for years: convincing elderly and teenaged victims to give him cash or escorting them to an ATM where he robbed them.

On Thursday, because of Keenan's testimony, Fayewicz was sentenced to 7 to 12 years in the state pen for his crimes.

"I trusted him at first then I realized there's bad people out here and that I can't trust anybody."

Fayewicz admitted in court, in all, he stole more than $3,000 from his 11 victims which he used to buy cocaine.
