Six-year-old walks marathon to raise funds for CP center

Tate Kemp trains for the Melbourne marathon.


The Herald Sun in Australia reports that Tate Kemp, 6, will participate by walker in the Melbourne marathon with his campaign, Tate08, to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre, which he says helped him with his cerebral palsy.

His slogan's printed on T-shirts, and Tate has already been training three times a week for the October 12 Samsung Melbourne Marathon.

He wants people to registering for the marathon and join his the Tate08 campaign, which supports the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre - the official charity of the event.

"I came up with the (campaign) name," Tate said. "I heard Kevin07 and thought it was funny. I think Tate08 is good."

According to the Herald Sun, "cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in Australia and is under-funded by up to $50 million each year, according to an Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Study done in 2006."
