Emmy buzz for RJ Mitte?

RJ Mitte from AMC's "Breaking Bad"

From RJ Mitte's hometown paper, the Lafayette, La., Advertiser:

RJ Mitte, a Lafayette native who landed a principal role in AMC's dark comedy Breaking Bad is on the contenders' list for an Emmy nomination.

Mitte, who will turn 16 in August, is being considered for a nomination as Best Supporting Actor.

"He's in the running (for a nomination). We'll probably know after the 17th," said his manager, Addison Witt.

"We're nervous about it," said his mother, Dyna Mitte. "It's tough to
pull off an Emmy nomination."

Mitte is philosophical about his chances.

"Even if I don't get nominated, it's cool to say I'm a contender," he said. "It's an honor - period, just to be thought of."

Mitte plays a teenager who, in addition to normal teen angst, also struggles with cerebral palsy. Mitte's real life echoes his character's in that he also was born with cerebral palsy, although his character is more severely disabled than he is.

While Mitte has been seen in background roles on such popular series as Hannah Montana, he is a relative newcomer to the small screen.

"He's gotten very far in a short period of time, and we will see," Witt said. "There will probably be a number of awards he'll be nominated for, just because of the outstanding work RJ has done."
